Rooted in the Iron Age kingdom of Lydia in Western Anatolia, it recalls a civilization of immense wealth, the birthplace of coinage, and the crossroads of East and West. It is also the name of Lydia of Thyatira, the New Testament’s legendary "dealer in purple cloth," a woman of status who understood that color and texture are conduits for connection.
